Adopt-A-Family Update

For our 5th year, Hillside participated in the YWCA’s Adopt-a-Family program. With your help, we were able to support three families in need with gifts for the children and grocery gift cards for the parents. Thank you to all of you who contributed!

Our annual adopt-a-family tradition continues.

At Hillside, we’ve always tried to foster a sense of community inside our walls, and in turn, it’s important to us to support our community outside of our walls. For our fifth year, Hillside is participating in the Adopt-a-Family program through the YWCA of King County.

The YWCA’s Adopt-a-Family program helps families in need who are trying to get back on their feet. The families who sign up to receive holiday assistance are current YWCA clients. Some are living in their shelters, fleeing domestic violence, or in young parent units. Some are in transitional housing, and housing for Veterans with PTSD. All of these families are on the road to self-sufficiency and are receiving assistance with job training, housing, counseling, and other services. They are working hard to improve their lives!

This year, we have been given the opportunity to support two families. Through this program, each child will receive at least two holiday gifts, and the parents will receive a grocery store gift card.

Help us help a family.

We are also on a list to adopt any families who need help last minute, so that everyone who wants to can have a wonderful holiday.

We need your help!

Our goal is to raise a minimum of $400 from our Hillside family to help these families during the holidays. Hillside will also contribute some matching funds. We want the holidays to be wonderful for our adopted families.

To help us reach our goal, please consider donating some cash at Hillside. We will collect all the donations, purchase the gifts and gift cards, and deliver everything to the YWCA, so we need your donations by December 13. If you have any questions or would like to contribute, ask your bartender.

Thank you!

YWCA is on a mission to eliminate racism, empower women, stand up for social justice, help families, and strengthen communities.
